HOW THE SEARCH ENGINE WORKS?

Searching in the database

After typing the name of the author or its part into the field “Searching in the database”, relevant references will be offered with the total number of hits in the brackets.

After choosing a specific reference, the author’s page will be shown containing the following:

• number of items found and their distribution depending on categories (painting, drawing and paperwork, printed work, photographs, statutes and objects)
• brief biography of the author, if available
• three works bid on the last occasion
• statistics showing the number of the items found, number of successful sales and an average price
• three photos of the author’s works chosen at random

After choosing the category required or all items, a list of the works bid will be shown and it can be in a chronological order or according to a realized price of sale.

After clicking on the name of the work, a detailed list will be shown (sale date, item number in the auction catalogue, author data, size, technique, auction house, place of sale, opening bid, final price and auction commission).

Advanced searching

The “Advanced searching” function offers more detailed analyses of the art market as well as the history of how works by different authors were sold.

The database can be browsed on the basis of specified parameters including the time of the sale, author, name of the work, technical category, auction house, opening bid and final price.

Hits include statistics showing the number of items found, number of successful sales and an average price of the retrieved set of auction items. Their list can be set in any order depending on the parameters chosen.
