Hollar Václav (1607 - 1677)
Václav Hollar 13.7.1607 (Prague) - 23.3.1677 (London) - famed Czech baroque engraver and draftsman - worked in Strasbourg, Cologne and Antwerp - since 1936 in England education: pupil of M. Merian and J. van der Hazden in Frankfurt work: baroque engravings, often thematic series; various topics: vedutas, noble ladies, portraits, still-life, clothes and textile details - his work has almost documentary character but of a supreme artistic level galleries: e.g. National Gallery in Washington or the Hermitage in Saint Petersburg exhibitions: e.g. 2007/2008 Kinsky Palace in Prague
