Joža Uprka 26. 10. 1861 (Kněždub) - 12. 1. 1940 (Hroznová) education: Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (professor František Čermák); since 1884 studied in München. After his return lived and worked in Slovácko. In 1892/1983 travelled to Paris where he became acquainted with impressionism. work: romantic historicism and folklore themes; combination of art-nouveau decorativism with impressionist techniques.Towards the end of his impressionist period (1899–1905) Uprka focused on graphics, etching in particular.exhibitions: 1st author exhibition in Topičův salón in Prague, 1898
